Dam to Dam packet pickup with the fam.

Dam to Dam 20k

Gotta love packet pickup!  Especially one that feeds the whole family.
We parked over by the Asian Gardens ,which we love by the way, and walked over the Polk County Convention Center downtown.  It was hot when we started out and I carried Archimedes in the Mei Thai so I was uber sweaty.
I ate before we left so I wouldn't be grouchy and hungry when I saw all the people around me, including Jaymon and Sam, eating sub sandwiches.
Gotta love a distracted 10 year old photographer that took the above blurry photo!
Balloons make these boys happy!
Everyone waited patiently for their snacks and were super well behaved.
I drank about a 1/2 cup of Dr. Pepper to wash down the corn chips. The beer was quite popular though.
I took photos of the food but in hindsight, I should have taken a photo of the nice volunteer that gave me packet and t-shirt, chip, socks ect.  Next race!
The grub looked yummy!
This is what I ate. Frito Scoops, strawberries and grapes!  Its been a while since I have eaten chips and they hit the spot!
Little Milo spawn had a great time. Notice the cool water bottle beside him with the balloons on it. I won that in a giveaway. It is a stainless steel water bottle with a photo by A Sense of Place Photography. I chose the balloons with the boys in mind and was right about them fighting over the bottle!
Archimedes had to take his grapes and chips with him when it was time to go. I was lucky to have the ziplock bag that the socks came in. He held them all the way until we got home. They actually survived his hot little hands as well as many times rolling down the grassy hills on the way back to the car.
Jupiter is such great fun to take out into the world. He is always ready to go and check stuff out.
Milo and Momma are both hams!
Notice my necklace??  Jacque at The Silver Maple sent it to me to check out. I absolutely love it! It says Run Like a Mother and has a blue charm hanging in the center. We are planning a giveaway later on down the road. It is my new favorite necklace. I was pleasantly surprised at how large it is.
So now I am off to paint my toe nails, put on my Dam to Dam temp tattoos on my feet, pack up my bag for after the race and get my outfit set out for the morning.  I am headed downtown at 5:00 am to catch the school buses that will take us up to Saylorville Dam where the race starts. There is a high chance of thunderstorms tomorrow morning. The only thing I worry about it my camera getting wet. Otherwise I am stoked to run barefoot in the rain!  Race gods, I beseech thee to smile on us tomorrow morning!

Are you running with your camera? Are you taking pictures as you are running the race? If so, you are one amazing person!

Good luck to you tomorrow!

My first trail race is tomorrow, 12K.

Thunderstorms must present a totally different challenge to a barefoot runner. I get pruned feet 3 minutes in the bath.. LOL!

so sorry I did not have your race on High Five Friday...I was a little behind this week..

HIGH FIVE and good luck!

LOVE the mileage you're getting from Patrick's (of The Road) tshirt - I wear mine all the time too! We're picking up packets today for our kids' 1 mile run tomorrow. Ends at a waterpark, which should be fun. Best of luck with your race!

Good running tomorrow. I know what you mean about the water bottle; everything has to be fair with my boys.

Love the necklace. I've been checking out her things but getting stuff across the border is always a pain as we get hit with extra taxes. Now, if I could win one....

I agree with ShelBell. Your pictures are great! I love the balloons. I wish my family would let me post pictures of them, but they are very private. I have to keep posting pictures of my feet, but I think it's getting boring.

Good luck in your race!!
