I am waiting until tomorrow when hopefully I will have more answers as to my anemia situation. The rest of the test results should be in. I have been upping my iron and vitamin c as well as cutting out filler foods and replacing them with more nutritious calories. Although the chocolate chip cookies and jelly beans, (both of which are gluten, casein, and egg free) sweetened my mood.
One of the symptoms of anemia is depression and pair that with no running and you have a bummed out Angie Bee. I know it though and why so I am just trying to enjoy my rest.
Jaymon suggested tonight that I run around the block and just see how it feels. Tempting but when I make a smoothie for the kids and then have to sit down with a headache and fatigue I don't think I can make it around the block. "Tomorrow is a new day" says Chicken Little.
I have a 5k coming up on the 10th and am looking for donations to the charity that I am running it for. I am running for Easter Seals of Iowa. My son Jupiter has autism and he goes to Easter Seals Camp Sunnyside every summer. He is so loved there and its his favorite place to go! If you have the means to donate it would be much appreciated! To those who have already donated, thank you from the bottom of my heart!
I won't be racing but I will be running in my two bare feet for my lovely Jupiter!
Hope everyone had a fab weekend!
To any Dresden Files fans out there, I am listening to Changes. I love James Marsters and have always been on "Team Spike" but my goodness he is quite the narrator! WOW! CHANGES IS CRAZY!! I know that it ends in a cliff hanger but which one after Harry has lost so much already.

Sorry you're bummed out : (
Like you said, rest is really important, so just do what you feel like doing right now.
btw...I donated last week and hope you got a confirmation for your page!
Hope you get the anemia issue remedied quick. For me, it was as simple as a little more variety in my diet and vitamins with iron. Felt much, much better after tweaking my usual eating habits...that was 5 years ago and no probs since. Feel better soon girly!
is it official you ahve anemia, I thought you were just getting tested but didn't know if it was for sure or not.
heal quick, we all know how much running brings you!
Hope you get some good info back on your blood work.
We love Spike! One of my favorite Joss characters.
It's not the same as running but you can always go for a brisk walk (and barefoot too!). At least, that way, you're getting out and doing something; that may help you feel better.
Have you watched Running the Sahara? If not, now would be the perfect time to. I found it really uplifting and inspirational; in fact, all of my boys (including hubby) liked it too! It's something else you can do when you're trying to do nothing.
Hey- I just randomly found your blog. I think we read a mutual running blog or something.
Anyway, I wanted to comment because I'm also dealing with anemia. Back in May, my hemoglobin level was a 7.3 (severe). I didn't get a transfusion, although if I went to the ER with that level, I would have (and sometimes I wish I had, because it would have pretty much 'cured' the anemia instead of me having to actually work for it). Like you, I couldn't run. My doctor actually told me no running for a month and it SUCKED. But it made me really appreciate running now (my last checkup, I was at 9.1, which is "moderately anemic"). So, if you need any support... let me know.
Good luck with the 5K and raising money! Even if you can't race, at least it's good that you're doing it and it's for a really great cause :).

Hang in there!
Hi, I found your blog in searching for the effects of running barefoot and anemia. I'm glad you have resolved it pretty quickly. My husband is a marathon runner and started running barefoot (and also used the 5 fingers) in the Fall last year. After having the same symptoms you described, in June he was diagnosed with severe anemia. We still haven't resolved it even on iron supplements. He still feels exhausted and can only run about 2 miles. The doctors have put him through the ringer with tests looking for internal bleeding but nothing has shown up yet. I have read a lot about anemia in runners due to foot strike - and being barefoot would increase the chances since there is no cusion. However, when I asked the doctor if running could have done this he responded as though I was an idiot. Did your doctor suggest running could have been the cause? It seems like you have been able to resolve it with diet, but I'm curious if you or anyone else who sees this post has had experience with this. I'm looking for help anywhere I can, since the doctors really don't seem to be helping us.
Good luck in your marathon, and glad to see you are doing well. I'll keep following your blog now that I have found it.
