I finished all of my recaps and paperwork for the nuun jobs I have done recently, grocery shopped with Jaymon and the spawn, all of which were very well behaved, and then ran four barefoot miles with my handsome hubby and spawn in the park.
I took off for the cemetery for 3 more miles of hills and totally couldn't breathe when I took this. Love the tank top and am planning to wear it for the race on Sunday. The lovely blue tank comes with a cropped long sleeved half jacket sort of thing with the sweet thumb holes. Lots of pictures on race day though!!
Such a wonderful time of year. I am taking it all in before Daylight Savings ends on November 7th.
The needles on the ground are soft and lovely to have underneath my bare feet.
The light and air are perfect in the evenings.
This was my last run before the marathon on Sunday morning! Tomorrow I set up the nuun booth at the expo and am going to pick up my packet right away and look for a hoodie! I wanted a Des Moines race hoodie last year when I ran the half barefoot but decided to wait until this year when I will be running the full. It will be great to have Jaymon close by to help with set up and breakdown so I am not working the whole time and can rest some. I am so excited for the race!! I am going to smile and enjoy pushing myself while paying close attention to my posture. I think that having an upright relaxed posture and conserving energy by not tensing up any body part that is not working will serve me well and be my main focus of the run.
Today I was stoked to find out that my race entry fee is comped since I am a vendor for the expo! Thats $80 back in the running fund! Minus the hoodie of course. I am really excited about this revelation since I would love to run the races that I work at. I have felt great the morning of all the events I have worked at and had such a hard time just standing and watching everyone race.
I am already planning for next week. On Sunday after the race I am going to get in the habit of writing out my goals for the week. The Lovely AnneMarrie from Goals for the Week is so diligent about doing this and has inspired me to do the same. I am going to also work on toning up and loosing the few pounds I have put on during the whole anemia scare. Time to get back at it!
I have also decided to go ahead and hold barefoot running meetups at the park that Jaymon and the spawn and I run at. It will be very impromptu but its regular and a nice area with a clean path and play equipment for the kids so families are welcome. I will figure out the details but am going to start next week. I am thinking of starting on Monday for my "get the kinks out after a long run" run after the marathon.
I will post when I am going to be there on the Barefoot Runners Society page as well as my facebook page.
You don't have to be a barefoot runner to attend. I will help all I can if you want to learn to run barefoot or if you are starting out in minimal shoes which holds to the same principals of barefoot running. If you just want to come and run whatever you have or don't have on your feet is welcome!
Here is how fun it is!
If you stop by the Des Moines Marathon expo over the next two days and come and say hi to me at the nuun booth, make sure you let me know you know me from the blog and I will hook you up with a tube of nuun and a bottle!!!
Run Happy my friends!!
You're going to rock that course, Angie! Have fun doing it!

Hi Angie Bee,
ReplyDeleteGood luck to you this weekend! You are going to do awesome!!!!!! Remember to smile and throw those arms up in the air:)
Gorgeous pictures! May your feetsies be speedy and strong through your race!
ReplyDeleteArchimedes looks so fine in that video. I love the way the top half of him looks so relaxed, like he's just sitting in a chair, while the bottom half is so active!!
ReplyDeleteAs far as the pretty blue tank top, it's going to be a while before I can wear something so cute. They don't usually have cute coordinated outfits like that in the plus-sized running category (at least that are designed well and not too cheap quality) I have to stick with men's XXL shirts for a while.
What a cutie!
ReplyDeleteyour blog is really interesting..a must read by fellow runners and for those who are beginners, you can inspire others by your posts. Keep it up and have a happy run always.
ReplyDeleteBTW, that was such a great run, congrats!
