Rewiring neural pathways to happiness

I have been thinking lately about the things that make me happy.   Its easy for me to take notice of the wonderful things around me when I feel relatively good.  It is much more difficult to see the things that make me happy when I am not feeling so great.  Whether its some kind of illness or any outside stress, I only have so much I can take before negativity seeps in and so I am thinking lately that I need practice.  I want to increase my capacity before I slip into being a negative bitch about everything.

Noticing the things that make me happy often and making a place for them in my memory I think will be key.  I want to rewire neural pathways.  I want to create and develop happier habits for myself.

Yesterday I the superhero found the ending credits song for the cartoon Adventure Time on youtube.
Music can quickly affect ones mood.  I am loving this song today.

Geeky sciency stuff and especially Vi Hart, make me happy too.  October is the month of the flexagon. I am going to try and make a hexaflexagon later today!
Seeing those colors flip round and round and the triangles and the flexy paper.  Oh joy!

Certain movies can lift my spirits.  I am a Big Lebowski fan and consider myself a Little Lebowski Urban Achiever.  Music of course and I like to bake and prepare food too.  Above all though I try and remember that taking care of somebody else never fails to make me feel better.  Whether its reading books to the spawn or even preparing food for them.  Taking a walk in the gorgeous fall weather collecting leaves is right up there on the list too!

What are the things that make you happy?  Do you tend to be a positive thinker or negative thinker?
Cheers,
Angie Bee

  1. Mind blown... I have never seen a hexaflaxagon! That makes me happy!

I do tend to be a positive thinker.. and its funny.. there have been times when I'm feeling really stressed and negative... and then suddenly, I can flip it in my head.. and then its positive.. kind of like the hexaflexagon.. dark and dreary? flip it in the middle to bright and sunny :-)

    Thanks for sharing this!

    happy trails..

  2. website One myth in particular is always that the bank would like your house. The lender wants your hard earned cash, not your home. They want the cash they loaned you together with interest.http://www.northfacejacketsss.com
